Team Services

To upload and share code after creating your Visual Studio Team Services account, connect to your private Git repositories or Team Foundation version control from tools like:

Don't have a Visual Studio Team Services account? Create your account and your team project first. You'll use your team project to store code, builds, tests, work items, and other assets. If you created an account, but didn't create a team project, you can finish that part here.

Create your team project in Visual Studio Team Services

  1. Sign in to your Visual Studio Team Services account (https://{youraccount}.visualstudio.com).

  2. Name your team project. Select your process template to manage your work. Then choose Git or TFVC for version control.

  1. If you haven't already, install Visual Studio 2015.

  2. Sign in to your Visual Studio Team Services account (https://{youraccount}.visualstudio.com).

  3. From your account overview page, select your team project. To find your team project, use Browse.

Install the Team Explorer Everywhere plug-in for Eclipse

  1. If you haven't already, install Eclipse.

  2. Open Eclipse and on the Help menu, select Install New Software.

  3. Add a repository for Team Explorer Everywhere.

  4. Select the "Team Explorer Everywhere" features.

  5. Accept the license agreement and restart Eclipse when prompted.

Connect to your team project

  1. Show Team Explorer.

    Go to Window, Show View, Other

    In Show View box, expand Team Foundation Server, select Team Explorer

  2. Connect to Team Foundation Server.

    Pending Changes view, click Connect to Team Foundation Server

  3. Add the server.

  4. Enter your Visual Studio Team Services account (https://{youraccount}.visualstudio.com).

    A:Sign in to your Visual Studio profile to find your account list.

  5. Connect to your team project.

Q: Why won't my browser work with Team Services?

A: This might happen if you're using an unsupported browser. For the best experience, please check that you're using a supported browser.

Q: Why doesn't Visual Studio launch when I click "Open in Visual Studio" on my team project page?

A: This link requires Visual Studio 2013 or later. It doesn't launch earlier versions of Visual Studio.

A: You can use:

To connect to Team Services with Visual Studio 2008 through 2012

  1. Start Visual Studio.
  2. From the Team menu or Team Explorer, go to Connect to Team Foundation Server > Select Team Projects > Servers.
  3. Add your Team Services account ({youraccount}.visualstudio.com).
  4. Select your team project, and finish connecting.

If you get connection errors, try choosing HTTPS as your protocol.
